IF you're going to be spreading grass seed before or after an application of a weed & crabgrass killer, the ONLY product that can be used without causing any damage to the grass seed would be "Tupersan". The other products listed below will inhibit/prevent grass seeds from germinating.

There are quite a few weed & crabgrass killers currently on the market. I've listed each of them by their active ingredient followed by the name brand by which they're sold as.

Active Ingredient / Name Brand

Benefin sold as Balan
Bensulide sold as Betasan or Pre-San
DCPA sold as Dacthal
Dithiopyr sold as Dimension 1EC or Dimension Ultra 40WP
Pendimethalin sold as Pendimethalin
Prodiamine sold as Barricade 65WG or Barricade 4F
Oxadiazon sold as Ronstar
Siduron sold as Tupersan

To my knowledge, most or all of the listed products can be safely used on Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue and most fine fescue cultivars

I bought some grass seed, and it said not to put any weed killer on it until the grass has been cut three times. I'm thinking about waiting to plant the seed until two weeks after I have put weed killer on the weeds.
