Yes I believe they existed.
The bible tells of the Nephilim in the sixth chapter of Genesis, and I heard a guest on Art Bell finding a 13 foot tall skeleton in a cave.
There are people who have their pituitary produce growth hormone all of their lives, and Robert Wadlow (the world's tallest man recorded by the Guiness book of world Records. My grandgather met this man in the 1920s, and he was almost 9 feet tall.

Why not? Maybe there were Giants at one point in history, we may never know. But then again, think about the people who were alive back then, do you think if they saw something far off that looked vaguely like a Giant, that possibly they assumed it was and created the whole entire thing from their minds? Also consider the source, people back then were kings of tall-tales and story-telling. In the bible there was Goliath, he was supposedly a "giant" but what if giant's were just really tall or really broad people? I mean, back then, people were a lot smaller than they are now.
Maybe they made it all up to explain the "unexplained", or maybe they were spot-on and we humans now of days are just close-minded?

They weren't giants int he sence of what we think of them today. Most likely it was just really tall people born (7 feet or so). People have gotten taller by trend naturally. Years back the average hieght was a lot shorter than now, so when you had the 7 foot tall person of course they thought they were giants. They were probably outcasted. It goes along with cyclopes. My theory on those is that someone saw a cyclopes baby born (something that can really happen, though the baby is dead when born) and then made up stories about if they were to live what would have become of them.

They could have started out true but been exagerated. Most people were a whole lot shorter back then. So, if a person who was like 7ft. came to them back then, they would see the person as very TALL whereas some of us these days would just see the person as a tall.

I think so. How anyone would come up with something like that is very interesting. But I think that they may have seen soemthing like it before some where or in another life time. Who knows what is really out there.

I think they STARTED witha curnal of truth.
Spartians were known to be huge, at LEAST 6 ft tall.
So that's probably where the myth started,
