The Red Wings are the Yankees of Hockey. You either love them or hate them. I grew up in the D playing hockey so I am a huge fan. Ken Holland put together some great teams and we won championships so some fans don't like it. Now that the salary cap is involved, they are still at the top of the league. It makes it that much better that no one can say they are trying to buy a championship.

Regardless of their age they are still a formidable team. Year after year they are right there at the top. I just hope they can get this playoff scniede off their backs.

And hey Matthew, Detroit is one of the ORIGINAL 6 - not some expansion flakes like calgary. And Detroit calls itself Hockey Town USA. Not only that, contrary to popular myth, Canada did not actually "invent" hockey. They refined it from similar games brought over by the Europeans.

My only gripe about Detroit now is their acquisition of Bertuzzi. I am truly disappointed. (oh yeah, they never should have let Shanny go either)

I hate the Red Wings. I hate them for a few reasons:

1) Detroit calls itself Hockey Town. What an insult to any other Canadian city that actually knows and likes hockey much more than Detroit. It is not Hockey Town. Calgary is much more of a hockey town than Detroit will ever be.

2) I dunno, I just hate them. I dont' really have any other reason than they are from Detroit.. and Detroit is close to Ontario and I hate Ontario and that whole region becuase i"m a big jerk.

My Flames beat Detroit 2 -1 two games ago. I was there at the Saddledome and it was sweet. I was also there at the Saddledome, Game 6 Round 2 of the 2004 playoffs when Calgary beat Detroit in Overtime with Martin Gelinas goal......... it was a very sweet moment for hockey.

Detroit is a great team because of Ken Holland. The man turned a team from a joke into a dynasty. Add Steve Yzerman, a man who defined hockey, epitomized what it meant to be a hockey player, a leader and a sportsman. Add in consistency and a fun team to watch and what is there to dislike. Unless your team gets beat by them. Then its just envy.

What about the Red Wings...... they are a good team forgive me for saying this....but they r better then the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS like don't u think the leafs have not won the cup sience 1967 like hello!!!!!!!!!! any team is better then the leafs they suck!!!!!!! they take to many stupid peneltys, and they can't skate fast they got dame good players wellwood,sundin,tucker,macabe,raycroft ,just to name a few u know...... i think these guys have to try harder heres an idea....when u go on the ice don't think of the money think of the fans and how much they support u guys then maybe you will start winning games and maybe just maybe.......u will get to hold that cup Sundin think about it? oh and remember it's just a game.............

for those people in canada detriot is hockey town U.S.A. not hockey town world. anyway i saw fedorov screw us in the shootout and we need another cup. i think we have a great shot of winning the cup this year and everyone hates detroit because they're like the yankee's. people don't like teams that win all the time. det. has had the best record in 3 of the last 4 seasons and are on their way to another presidents trophy this year. damn it sucks for everyone else.
