Alright, I am in no way, shape or form conveying that I am a child prodigy. But I was home-schooled and my mom taught me three grades in one. So when I decided to go to an actual school for grade 9, I was 11. It SUCKED! It was the worst year of my life for SO many reasons. The worst reason was that those around me were 14 or 15 and were interested in so many different things, like boys and the issue of sex (don't ask why that was even an issue at their age). It's one thing to understand the academic side of life but you can't prepare for life with mathematics or science. There are experiences that are absolutely crucial to the formation of a person. Like being able to relate to your peers in some way or another. And it's just the biology of the age difference is astounding.

Perhaps I had it bad because I had never even gone to school before but I know that's really not the main cause.

With age comes a certain mentality, a certain degree of common sense. To not have that makes life very difficult when around those that do.

It's like you fit in intellectually but you're lagging behind in the term of relations and life itself.

Very strange.

So yes, a child prodigy is at a disadvantage for lack of experience.

I believe so. A child prodigy is picked out because of their intelligence and they go on a radically different path to adulthood than their peers. Because of this they never get a chance to socially develop which leads to big problems later in life.

Child prodigies are usually novelties. Once they hit adulthood they either need to be as good as adults or they'll fizzle.

Yes because much of life learning comes from experience, things you can't learn from books. Hands on experience counts for alot.
