I am applying for the administrative assistant position in an art museum which requires bachelor degree. It is a very desirable position for liberal studies studet like me, what can I do to make myself stand out? If I just send out the resume, I'm sure I won't hear anything from them at all. Besides, it is a pretty big and well funded museum and the job I am applying for is a full time position, what salary would I expect to ge paid?

Review the vacancy announcement/job posting qualification requirements. Personalize your resume. Retype your resume so that for each one of the job requirements, state what type of experience or courses in school you took that would qualify your for that requiremet and then give examples. I'm sure that as an administrative assistant, for example, you will be required to do research involving certain types of art. They may want you to do writing as well. So, for example, you can say you excel at art research because such and such course required you to use certain research programs or the internet to successfully complete research papers. Something like that. If there is something that you particularly like to do that is one of the qualification requirements, state that. For example, if you perservere in solving hard problems or that you are a tireless worker, state those. You don't have to give a chronology of your experience any more. Just state how what you can do fits with the job requirements. Don't tell lies. Salary won't be discussed at this point. You can use the internet to find what salary to expect based on your locality. This is an entry level job, so I would say $25,000 - $30,000 if you are lucky, but they probably will offer a nice benefit package, which means a whole lot. Good luck. You can find some resume formats on Word. If they want you to e-mail your application, make sure you follow the instructions precisely. Try to limit your resume to 1 page.
