Hasn't he had just about everything handed to him? Tell me where I'm wrong!

This is such a myth, isn't it? I've heard many of his supporters claim that he is highly educated because he went to Yale and therefore highly intelligent and that he was a successful businessman and politician before running for president.

Wrong on all counts, but I guess it comforts them. I think Ann Richards or Molly Ivins once said about him, "He was born on third base but thinks he hit a triple," and that just about sums it up.

He's one of the few men in history who was not able to find oil under the dirt in Texas. And let's not forget that he traded Sammy Sosa.

They know he hasn't. They don't care. If they cared, they'd be liberal.

And as for the guy who questioned whether Ted Kennedy ever had a job: I'm presuming you mean other than the one he's done for the last 45 years, better than anybody in the last 100 years. He was an Assistant District Attorney in Boston, meaning he prosecuted criminals. I don't know how well he did, but at least he charged them and put them on trial. Bush has thousands in Guantanmo and Abu Ghraib that aren't receiving due process. John Kerry was also a prosecutor, in nearby Cambridge. So much for the "liberals soft on crime" lie.

Worked hard? No, not only do I not believe it, I've never heard such a thing from any conservative, so why you'd ask if we believed such a thing is beyond me.

Bush was born into privilege. Like Gore. Like the Kennedys. Like Kerry. Like Jay Rockefeller. Like McCain. Etc. We suffer no illusions as to his past of privilege and his being able to move in high circles.

Then again, we aren't envious of rich people - we aspire to join their ranks! - and do not hate them for their privileges.

So, anyway, what was your point?

No not entirely. He is a fortunate son, no doubt. He did however have a time in his life when he was in the oil game, a very rough and risky game, and lost everything.

This is a pretty bias link. It says nothing at all about what happened the first time he was in the oil business.
So what has Hilary or Obama done? How about Edwards?

Hmmm...do you realize you could say the identical thing about 70% of the House and 90% of the Senate?
What's your point?
Clinton never had a job in his life that didn't entail gorging himself at the public trough...how about those Kennedys, Kerrys, and Rockefellers...now THERE'S some hard workin' folk!

You are not wrong.. he has had everything handed to him. If he had to do two hours of a day that our American troops in Iraq do?.... He would be dead with in the first 10 minutes.

The hardest thing he has to do is spin the bottle to decide which bad decision to make today.

Quite honestly, he makes me laugh whenever he gets that" I'm the King" look on his face and starts giving ultimatums. He only does that because he knows his hit man, Cheney will carry out orders. He is a little boy in a mans body pretending to be president. Poor Us!

He's a spoiled brat. Anyone who thinks George W. Bush has worked hard, or worked at all for that matter, is as delusional as he is.

For those conservatives who think this is a "strawman" question, here's one of your own right here on Answers who claims Bush was "born broke" and had to "work hard to get into Harvard."

He's worked just as hard as Teddy (I wannabe a lifeguard) Kennedy.

When has Ted ever had a real job?
