Don't do it no matter how big a jerk he is. It is amazing how this action can come up and bite you in the rear years later. if you are actively persuing another job, and want to get away from this person, then go to your personell or human resources person and hand in a written 2 weeks notice letter immediately. You can state personal reasons if they ask you why you are leaving. If it is a small place where you work, and you have to resign directly to your boss, then do the same thing. Never, ever just walk out...........and always, always try to leave a job ANY job using the classiest way you can. These people can spring up in future jobs that you would never expect and you don't want to burn any bridges, OK?

First take a deep breath...now take another one...and one more. OK, now, let's step back and think about the potential consequences.
If you're been at this job for a while, you'll want to list it on your resume. Walking out of a job is a good way to have yourself listed as ineligible for rehire.
If you're already interviewing and have a possible new job lined up, it will be more satisfying to walk in and tell the boss that you quit because you got a new job at a lot more $$ than it will to tell him you quit because (sob, red face) he's such a jerk.
Kinda like when the old boyfriend treats you lousy so you find a new one that treats you like a queen and then tell Mr. Goof to pack sand. You have the upper hand here - the boss just doesn't know it yet. Bear with it for a little while and let the thought of a better job with a nicer boss and more pay cause you to smile sweetly when he goes on his next rampage. It will drive him insane. :)

I know that it is hard to deal with the stress of a boss that is less than perfect to work with, however, which would you prefer being unemployed or working? Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good, stay until you get the new offer, it looks alot better getting hired with employement already than it does getting hired unemployed and you have more bargaining room, you can demand more money, you can hold out for better offers, however when you are unemployed you can get so desperate you will just take the first thing that comes along, and who is to say you get a new offer and your new boss is a prick too...so just be patient...take your time...i know its hard but you've dealt with this jack-*** for so long it shouldn't be hard to stick it out knowing you are going to stick it too him shortly...;) so stay in there, and learn to politely insult him too....where is the H.R. in your job anyway? Report him...you are leaving anyway do not put up with it...

don't leave Salt. You should wait unitl you are sure about your next job..........people only treat you the way you let them treat you. If he insults you all the time, apparently you allow it. There is an adult way to let him know that you don't like the way he treats you........Most bosses have bosses too, if he does, maybe you should let his boss know how he treats employees.

Report your boss to HR - allege he is being a jerk or worse if such is the case
Read your employee handbook over the weekend then get "creative" in whatever it is you report on Monday!

Your boss is not allowed to treat you like that.. go above him and complain about it. Dont just leave. Find something first then go.
Good luck!
