Her picture will be taken in this also. This is our first child so I have no idea what to take.

I just picked my favorite outfit. For bringing the baby home from the hospital there are a few things you'll want to consider:
1. Nothing too bulky. You want the carseat straps to fit as tightly as possible. And while layers may keep the baby warm, they keep you from getting the proper fit with the safety straps. To keep the baby warm, use a carseat cover or blanket draped over the carseat after the baby is buckled in.
2. No gowns. Same logic with the carseat. You'll need to be able to get the strap between the baby's legs, so pants or shorts are best.

You'll want something comfy and easy to put on the baby (preferably something that you don't have to slip over their wobbly head). We ended up taking our baby home in a little button up sleeper and that worked well. We bought the nb size but even that was too big (our son was 7lbs. 6oz)! I think next time I might buy one little outfit in preemie size so it will fit just right....granted it will probably only be able to be worn once, but thats okay with me.

If you're unsure - just bring a few outfits and you can decide at the hospital.

If she will be born in a warm climate...how about a cute baby dress? If not then a pretty sleep and play out fit would work well too. You could bring a dress for her pictures, and another outfit for her to come home in.

I took 3-4 outfits with me and I ended up using the preemie sleeper/gown w/ a cap. It was soft, warm and comfortable but not too thick. Remember you have to snap them in the car seat and that is where it gets tricky w/ a gown. I had my daughter in August and it was hot so the gown was thin enough. It was still big even though it was a preemie and she weighed 6lbs 11 oz

Look for something simple. I made the mistake with my first one of bringing something that was beautiful, but way too complicated for a first time mom. I almost gave up. For my second, she had a pretty little overall outfit that looks absolutely adorable in her newborn picture. And it was easy to put on and take off.

I had my son 3 wks ago. We had the same question. We just chose something comfortable, soft, but at the same time cute enough to get a pic in. Also consider how hot or cold the weather will be. when my daughter was born in the summer time we put her on a really cute onesie with matching shoes. The pic turned out really cute. Good luck!

I would get a pretty dress. Pertty but simple, not alot of frills and lace, I personally love those little headbands that match. If you want it to fit you may have to get a premie outfit. My daughter was 9 lbs and the dress she wore home from the hospital was so big on her and it was size newborn. (She outgrew it in no time though)

It depends on the weather. If it's warm, put her in whatever you want, a dress even. Make sure she's warm enough (but not too warm!) so put some socks on her and perhaps a hat. Also, make sure if it is hot and sunny that she's not sitting in the sun (too young for sunblock). If it's still cool, some pants and a cute long-sleeved onesie would be good. It's ultimately up to you mama! :)

For my son I took a one piece outfit that I got as a gift. Try to find a cut one piece as it easier when they are so small.

Don't bundle up the baby. If you are comfortable with the weather dress the baby the same. They need to adjust to your temperature not the other way around.
