I often watch House MD and I've noticed that is like bad seen that he has a disability. I know this is fiction but I'm curious about it, since I'm not from US so I thought maybe it's because a special cause.

They don't focus on his disability, they focus on the fact the disability led to a severe addiction to painkillers.

It isn't the disability. Many people in the US have disabilities and, in fact, they are protected from discrimination on the job by US laws. The main problem with House is that he is a drug addict. That is, he has an addiction to pain medication and over medicates himself. In the real world, no one would want a doctor that abuses drugs. Also, his attitude--superior, uncaring, rude and obnoxious--would be a problem, at least in the real world.

I don't think the disability is what is wrong to people. It is his addiction to the pain medication Vicodin.

He abuses pain medications and he has a bad attitude because he is constantly in pain. He is a jerk to people because he is unhappy and hurting.
