I have a 1990 Dodge Shadow, and while rolling my window up, I guess it got off track or something, and well anyway, now the entire glass piece is out (in one piece thankfully). But, it looks like rain and I'd really like to have a window. How do I put it back in?

Take the inside door panel off so you can see the track and regulator. Put the window back on the track and reattach the regulator to the glass. You might get by with just replacing the little plastic clips that attach the glass to the regulator but there is a good chance you will need to replace the regulator too.

First Remove the door panel. It is usually just clipped on.

Then try to re-insert the glass back in the tracks and re-attach to the raising mechanism. Put your panel pack on and you should be OK.

If this sounds too difficult, visit your local body shop, it's about a 10 minute fix.

Be advised your window came out because some part of the retention mechanism failed. You may need new parts or your glass may have to be re-adhered (glued) to the raising and lowering device, I don't know what type your car is equipped with.

if you have never done this before I would recommend you take it to a shop, it's more than a 10 minute job as stated above, it takes that long to get the door panel off and then I'm sure there is a broken part in there, windows don't just fall down like that for no reason at all.

You will need to disassemble the door to find out what broke. You can buy replacement parts, but this is really a job for a bodyshop who has the tools and expertise to do it.
