Been on 4 dates, he calls everyday, we have only really made out, no sex. He has not once tried to sleep with me which I love bc it shows he respects me. We are both 20. How do I know if I am just a hook up or a potential girlfriend. He also is protective over me, (not too much though)

Potential girlfriend. Don't think that this guarantees that it will work out, but he seems to be serious about it - he's have tried by the second date at the latest if he was just looking for sex.

Well it definetly sounds like he is checking for you, but you need to ask yourself what you want from this... a hook up or a boyfriend? Then give him a 1-2 months and if he is still around and things are going well... I say claim him before someone else does!!!

Both of you are pretty young and im sorry to say but most guys at 20 (MOST!) are only thinking about 1 thing...
you refer to it as a hook-up which really is just sex.

in case you have been on 4 dates, how is there any hook-up element occurring? you're already relationship. of course ou're a ability lady pal, and definite, that's 4 dates and he hasn't tried to sleep with you? of course that's not approximately intercourse.
