I voted for Bush but wish there had been a different choice. I am against globalism to the extent it means reorganizing our culture and laws and country to maximize the profits of the richest.
However, this is one area where it is clearly local government's fault. ANY emergency plan requires food and independant reliance for the first 3 days because it takes time for state and federal resources to mobilize. In LA by ordinance businesses and schools have 3 days of food and most have earthquake plans, because when the big one hits, we will be on our own with blocked streets, mass need, etc.
However, it is right and good that our government expends funds to help those in an emergency. However, it is a blessing, above self reliance. Whatever happened to the 'can do' spirit?
The one thing that the aftermath of Katrina did inspire me to do was to buy a gun, which I had gone all my life without doing. It was clear that I shouldn't suppose a mass emergency would inspire the community spirit of barn raising days.

Don't you know that Bush and Cheney have a weather creating machine? They made the hurricane and then made it go to NO to clean out all of the black people. Now, I hate old Bushy with a deep passion, but I don't blame him for the incompetence that belongs to Blanco and Nagin. But at the same time, he is the President and when anything of that magnitude happens the person at the top always gets the blame even if they were not the cause of it.

i think truly the whole situation was a huge mess on all of their parts they are both to blame the mayor and bush. Bush more because he has the power he could have done something without the mayor approval people were dying for gods sake people now days only care bout themselves and that is the honest truth

Of course Negan is not going to get any of the "blame"...he is a democrat after all! And by the way, didn't you know that Bush is directly responsible for all of the brush fires in CA and all of the snow storms in upper state NY and all of the flooding in New England? I guess he really is the omni-power that Dem's accuse him of being!

I'm not sure...but I think they have moved on, trying somehow to link Bush to the cause of the Dark Ages, the failing of our schools, the rise of Hitler, and the original sin of mankind in the Garden of Eden. Today, however, they took time to pass the Iraq war funding (or lack thereof) bill.
Personally, I think it's naive and ridiculous.

It didn't matter to Bush that the UN had to approve the Iraq war before invading. Why should it have mattered that Louisiana's governor or New Orlean's mayor didn't request federal help? He cared about the Iraqi people enough to invade their country and get the whole world to be against the US, why didn't he care that US CITIZENS were dying and suffering? Oh, yeah, Louisiana is not a country rich with oil.......
