There would be horrible horse/people/ground accidents. Broken legs, daily horse shootings because of the broken legs, squashed people with their eyes bugging out... Those poor horses that grew in really big trees in the woods would have nobody to splint their legs when they fell, and new baby trees would pepper the ground, ringed in the natural fence of the ribcage...
