The best way to avoid a scar from a cut is to use vitamin E oil. You can get capsules at your local pharmacy or drug store. Ask for them if you can't find them. Sterilise a pin with rubbing alcohol and then poke a small hole in the jelly capsule. Squeeze the oil out and apply it to your scar. I suggest you do this 2x daily, in the morning and before going to bed. It's amazing how great it works! I have a friend and my husband who were both operated on in open heart surgery... it makes a heck of a cut! Anyhow, the friend didn't use vitamin E oil but my husband did... You should see the difference... the friend has a thick, ugly purplish scar and you can hardly see my husband's... And vitamin E oil is great because it is WAY LESS EXPENSIVE than neosporin and all the chemical stuff...
Oh... vitamin E oil also worked great on my cesarian scar!

Well depending on the severity of the cut and if it is a clean straight or jagged cut will determine the type of scare that will form. for a simple straight cut I have always used vitamin E on my girls and it does help to promote healing and lessen scaring. My daughter scraped up her chin badly 4 years ago, I used vitamin E 3 times a day and the scar was next to nothing, now you have to really look hard to see it.

Depends on how bad it is and how much scar tissue your body normally produces. Keep the scab soft with a good lotion - preferably home made so you don't have all those extra chemicals in it - and that will help protect the new skin. I've a lotion I make for use both on humans and horses.

My anti-scar lotion recipe: two parts olive oil, one part lard, one part beeswax with a few drops of vit. E oil. Heat ingredients until just melted, pour into hard plastic or glass mold. Let harden, cut into bars. And it's totally none toxic.

The faster a wound heals, the less likely it is to scar. That's why Neosporin claims to reduce scarring. Notice that when you have lil cuts or hangnails around you cuticles, or cracks in callouses on your feet, they take long to heal because the skin is too dry. keep the skin soft, with any ointment like neosporin or vaseline, thats the best thing.

Lanacane spray or NeoSporin while the cut is still there. Put a band aid that is NOT air tight over it until it is healed then once its healed use mederma if theres a scar!

Vitamin E works wonders on cuts and scarring.
I used it recently after I got stitches and I didn't scare at all.
You can buy it in a bottle with a little brush at most pharmacies and health food stores.
