I'm curious about how these abilities manifest themselves in your mind. When someone asks you to tell them things about them, what do you see in your head? Are you able to zero in on that person and see not only what they're seeing but what they're going to see? Do you see such clearly, or just get vague impressions, or does it vary? How do these impressions come to you?

I have a good sense for body language and I can "read" people well, but not in any extra-sensory way. I guess bottom line I'm curious about how people who say they have extra-sensory abilities really view their world.

When I pick up stuff (and it is not frequent) I can only say I get "impressions." Like I'm driving and I am going to go down a particular road and I get a "feeling" to avoid it... not fear exactly, but an impression... and usually I'll find out something like the road was backed up due to a car accident... Or the phone rings and I will suddenly think of a particular friend, and he or she is calling... It's not a picture, and it's not words... it's an all over impression...

You know...its a very weird thing. I have dreams and they scare the crap out of me, but scare me more when I see them in reality. Honestly, I think everyone has the ability, but suppress through desensitivity. Meaning, we are geared to think logically that we suppress our emotions and inate ability to "foresee".

The most common way I get impressions are when I meet people randomly. They give off this ...vibe and I could be wrong but can tell what kind of person they are without a word. I've even met people that gave me the willy's...it makes me sick to the stomach....how dark they are inside.

Not sure if what I have is ability or a keen sensory about people, but I still see the world as a wonderful place with some very funky people walking around it. And my advice to you is an old one....Remember when someone says...if instinct is telling you something....listen. Most of the time its on point.

It all varies on the timing. I can't just sit there and read someones palm on the spot. Things occur on their own. Like for example, I am able to have dreams of things sometimes before they happen. I also have (I want to say) a premonition. I'll see things in my mind...and later on, it could be a week, a month or a year even...it will happen. Coincident or a gift? I do not know.

This may be what is called "selective thinking".

Selective thinking is the process whereby one selects out favorable evidence for remembrance and focus, while ignoring unfavorable evidence for a belief. This kind of thinking is the basis for most beliefs in the psychic powers of so-called mind readers and mediums. It is also the basis for many, if not most, occult and pseudoscientific beliefs.
