I wanted to use "My most valuable experience was". It sounds correct, but when I thought hard about it... it's kinda wrong right? I'm a bit confused.

I am not really a genius in grammar.

You will use "was" cause you had been through that experience so you it became part of your past so you will use "was".

Actually there is no clear cut answer to this question. Both can be used,depending upon the circumstance. It would be better for you to ask this question using at least part of the paragraph in your question so we could get the context. I agree that most likely was is the proper choice.

Definitely 'was' You must be referring to the past, therefore use the past tense.

Well if you are going to talk about something that happened to you in the past, use 'was' but if you are experiencing something now, use 'is'.
