It's the 'technical' name for a fever. Sometimes the doctor will issue you with a prescription with PUO as the reason. This means Pyrexia of Unknown Origin. The doctor's saying you have a high temperature etc. He is unsure what's causing it. Don't worry. It's unlikely to be life-threatening.

pyrexia is nothing but fever. Since it is a symptom only, it depends on one or more causes. Once the cause is known, only then it can be considered dangerous or harmless.
