I believe it depends on the type of duty that they take.
My uncle was and LPN, he made more money than an RN but he did private duty not hospital duty.
By that same token, he did know some RN's who did private duty and they made more than he did......

From what I understand, it's typically a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) that makes more than most others in the nursing profession (following along the same line that anesthesiologists tend to make more than most doctors). In the end, the more schooling you receive, the more you're likely to make when it comes to nursing...and the more degrees the higher up the food chain and into management you can progress.

By the way, it is definitely NOT typical an LPN would make more than an RN. Many people actually start off as LPNs before becoming an RN.

And outside the norm - the VP of my former department at my former employer was the VP in charge overall the nursing departments in each individual nursing home our company owned. The highest degree she ever received was an associates degree in nursing.

I really don't know, but I would think surgical nurses probably make decent money. Shouldn't be too difficult to find out though. Just type in Google "highest paid nurses in us, or wherever? good luck.

Nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist also make quite a bit more then Rn's (must people thing Rn's make the most)

I would think ER nurses make more. Probably the shift as well, nurses who work overnight get paid more.

usually nurses in a private surgery practice. u might wanna ask your self which are the most happy
