Melaleuca is a direct marketing company (MLM). They sell great products.

The way to make money in a nutshell is

1. sign-up customers who buy a certain amount of PV every month (preferred customers) and receive a commission.

2. sell to customers at retail price and receive a commission.

3. sign-up other people who want to work from home who then sign-up other people who all commit to being "Preferred Customers" purchasing a minimum PV amount costing between $55 & $75 a month.

receive commissions from all they do all they way down in a 5x7 matrix structure.

Count the costs and don't let anyone fool you - it involves sales and talking to people.

Even if you strictly do it by the Internet you will still have to talk to the people that inquire for more information.

Good Luck!

Melaleuca is a very good home based business if you have plenty of time to call people to get them to listen to their business presentation so they can become preferred customers and refer other people to the business. I love the products and they are very good products. A Melaleuca business takes lots of time and effort though. Don't think that it will be a get rich business. It is not. I started my business about 8 months ago. I am no longer working my business, I am just a preferred customer. Be prepared for lots of people saying "no" as you make those MANY phone calls. Melaleuca is a very strong company that has been in business over 20 years. They also offer lots of support to help you grow your business. Overall they are great, I just don't have time to work it well because I am working full time also.

You are getting a lot of good answers here. Basically you just do the advertising for this company and enroll them yourself. You may do this locally or even internationally. However I suggest sticking to the U.S. and Canada so you lower your expenses. You could just go word of mouth to people you know and in your area or advertise in news papers or on internet sites. You could put up fliers, really the person who enrolls you should be able to give you lots of ideas. I work with this company and I only do free advertising. It has great tax deductions also, you can write off your phone and internet bill and even your products you are required to buy. Also if you have an office in your home you may also write off in some cases part of your morgage. You need to check with your area. It is a slow start however once you get going it gets easier. The only requirement however is to be a customer so you know the products, and if you love the products it's easy. You can also sell some of the products you have to buy, not everyone will want to enroll, some prefer to buy directly through someone. It's all up to you and how you wish to run this business. Who ever you enroll you earn a commission of no less than 7% and as high as 20% as long as they buy every time. And the shop directly with the company so you do not have to worry about taking orders or making any delivery. The only work you have is to enroll them and help those who wish to do it as a business get started also. From their customers you earn a commission also of a minium of 7% so it can really add up. And also that goes up to 7 generations. It is risk free too, you can't lose anything by trying so i hope you will give it a try. The products are so wonderful and so much safer for you and the environment. I feel I make a difference every day. You are welcomed to email me if you have any questions.

I recently resigned from Melaleuca because I found it nearly impossible to earn a living at it. I had to sign so many people in order to see a profit, and truth be told, as soon as I mentioned Melaleuca, they ran for the hills.
What you have to consider here is the baby boomers who are always your most profitable market. Melaleuca was excellent in their time because most of the boomers had kids and needed to fill their homes with products that they purchased from their own "store". They also did home shows or party plan, which was a nice thing for housewives as they could get out of the house, socialize and still start their own business.
I found that those days are gone now. Most boomers are empty nesters and are no longer looking to go to parties of any kind, and certainly don't need to fill their homes with products anymore. What the boomers are looking for now is health and anti-aging. It is fast becoming a trillion dollar industry. I got started in it and earned more in the first 3 months than the whole time I was with Melaleuca. In fact, most of the leaders in my company were once leaders with Melaleuca as well.
You have to go with the trends in order to find success with a home business.

Melaleuca is a Network Marketing company.

If you're looking to work from home network marketing is a good way to do it, but, it's not "fast money" either.

If you stick with it and have a good marketing system in place, one that doesn't rely on family and friends, one with good coaching and mentoring in place, it really helps your chances for success.

Contrary to popular belief, product is not the most important thing you need to be successful in the business.

Product is important, but any network marketing company worth it's salt will have an awesome product.

If a good product made you successful there would be lots of people making money in network marketing and that's, unfortunately, not the case.

Melaleuca does have good products, but they are over priced.

So what happens is you'll get lots of people buying the products at "wholesale" or "member" pricing, cutting out your commissions. You may end up moving lot's of product but you'll also end up making a measly % override or "leadership" bonus.

Then the only way to make more money is to recruit, recruit, recruit, which is why everyone and their brother runs from network marketers. The only way left for them to make $ is to "get them into their deal". It's called vampire marketing, always looking for new blood.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love network marketing, it's a great business. But, there has to be certain things in place for you to be successful. Too many people get burned on hype and "good products".

Hope that helps

Suzanne

I've had much better luck with other companies. I have found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and I made $500+ in October, over $700 in November, $900+ in December, $700+ in January, and over $850 last month. They are free to join.

And by the way--never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you.

It's like selling avon. You go around, sell to friends, family, strangers....and make a small profit as well as a bit of a discount when you buy products from them.
