If it is running loud your motherboard might be going out.
Take it to a PC repair shop

If it was never loud and now it is most likely it is the cooling fans that are trying to maintain temperature. Time to power it down, open the case and blow out all the dust. While it is open turn it on and make sure that all the fans spin up. You should have at least 2 - power supply and CPU. Hopefully you have a third to cool the motherboard as well as exhaust the heat from the CPU.

hmm you have to worry a little bit if you are not utilizing your cpu to an higher end, while at normal work if your comp produces a sound, then check the vibrations with the fan and the cabinet, still it persist then your cpu fans speed increasing in means of time, if so try to change the smps of the cabinet, it will be solved

if its runnung loud, it's probably your hard drive going out. in control panel add/remove try removing all the crap u dont use. delete all your cookies and download a free copy of adaware se. with it run a full system scan and get rid of all corrupt files! good luck!!
