In terms of point spread, SB 3 colts/jets is still the biggest upset. 20 points at kickoff! No other upset is even close. The Rams were favored by 14 over the Pats in SB 36. Nobody knew, at the time, that the Rams were running into a budding dynasty. The Broncos were 12 point dogs to Green Bay and The Chiefs were 12 point dogs to the Vikings in SB 4.

Personally I feel there is no such thing as an upset in the Superbowl.. These are supposedly the two best teams meeting at the end of the year and to me that says that there can be no real upset. I agree that some teams on paper are the better of the two but when it comes down to the Superbowl it's time to toss that paper in the shredder.
If I had to choose I would say the only upset is the Jets/Colts as in those days the AFL was known as the little brothers and weaker and did the most to close the gap between the two leagues.

Yea the Jets were a big surprise back then but football then wasn't what it was today. I like the Pats first Superbowl victory. Nobody gave them a chance o beating the Superbowl Champs the St Louis Rams and Marshal Faulk. Plus the Pats had to play 3 other playoff games and they were supposed to loose everyone of those. Also throw in that Tom Brady came from nowhere.

Pats over Rams. The Rams handed that game to the Pats--consider these stats--

1. Pats were #7 in record in NFL - St. Louis was #1.
2. Pats barely squeaked by Oakland and Steelers blew it in AFC championship.
3. The Pats were not a dynasty at the time nor did anyone take them that seriously until SB 36.
4. St. Louis and New England both had good defenses that game up 273 and 272 points that year, however, the Rams offense scored a whopping 500 plus points, the Pat's about 370. St. Louis was destroying teams with its offense.
5. The Rams gave no indication of slowing down in playoffs--
they put 45 against the Packers up then 29 against the Eagles in the NFC championship - against an Eagle defense that was arguably one of the best in the NFL that year.
6. The Rams outgained the Patriots 427-267 in yards in SB 36 but gave up 3 turnovers resulting in 17 of New England's points.

Brady: 16 of 27 for 145 yds and one touchdown.
Warner 28 of 44 for 365 yds and one touchdown, two interceptions.

I've seen Jets Superbowl 3 tapes and I would say that is #1. But ones I've seen live the Patriots were really not supposed to beat the Rams for their first Superbowl.

the biggest upset, from a BETTING LINE perspective was Superbowl 32. The Packers were 14 point favorites over the Denver Broncos, and the Broncos won 31-24.

a close second woul din fact be SB3.

Jets over the Colts would have to be the biggest. Probably next would be the Pats over the Rams.

Superbowl III to me is the biggest upset of all time but there are a couple more which could qualify as a second or third prize for the award. Superbowl XXV and superbowl XXXVI comes to mind as well.

Biggest upset, I don't know. But da biggest choke was in Superbowl 34 with Tennessee and St.Louis where Andre Dyson, I think it was, got stopped at da 1 yard line to end the game
