Actually, the classification system represented in your link, was developed by Hans Eysenck. He believed that the two main personality factors were Neuroticism and Extraversion. The various combinations of having high degrees or low degrees of these two characteristics resulted in the four personality types described on the chart - Choleric, Melancholic, Sanguine and Phlegmatic.
