What exactly does a designer do for comix strips and other stuff?

i dont know if you call them designer, i think you're refering to artists who does animation, right?
well it says it all... but nowadays, hand works of these artists are not much important as their knowledge to do computer graphics. The last 5 years Pixar exceeded Disney on promotions & sales.

Not sure what exactly you're asking. Designers don't really do comic strips (those would be cartoonists or comic book/graphic novel artists like pencilers and inkers). A designer might put together the finished layout of a comic book to be printed with the covers and advertisements and prices and such on the back and all. Graphic designers do all kinds of things, from designing logos for any kind of company to advertisements to movie posters. It's really a very broad field.
