I absolutely love Fred Astaire's dancing. Any body out there like me who likes him?

I do. I don't learn dancing, but when I watch some movies that he starred in, I feel like dancing myself.

Fred Astaire started out being a shoe saleman- he made history by dancing- but don't forget that Ginger Rodgers did what he did, dancing backward, in high heels!!! Try watching a Gene Kelly movie- Fred was the graceful one, while Kelly was the althletic one- I suggest " On the Town" as a good one...

Oh yes! I adore Fred Astaire. I just finished re-watching Roberta. He's so graceful, elegant, not to mention sexy especially when next to Randolph Scott, who is conventionally good-looking but not half as interesting.

Though I think my favourite part from a Fred and Ginger musical was right at the end of the number Night and Day from the Gay Divorcee. It was a dance of seduction and when it was over, Ginger's character sits with a dazed look on her face as he offers her a cigarette. (hot yet subtle! Way to get around the censors, guys!)

My husband and I recently pulled out our "That's Entertainment" DVD and that sent us back to watch all of Astaire's old movies. While he and Ginger were glorious together, his best work was probably done solo. Not only was he an excellent dancer, he was both creative and innovative. And he looked great in a top hat and tails.
Add that to his quest for perfection and he is hard to top.
Of course, I've been in love with Gene Kelly since I was a little girl. What a smile! What a dancer!
But you gotta love Swazye and Travolta, too.

I do. I once did a project on Ginger Rogers, who you probably know was Fred Astaire's dance partner. At first, I didn't really care. I was doing my project on Ginger Rogers after all and I thought it was unfair that Fred was always in the limelight. Then I borrowed an old tape of his dancing. It was magical.

All those with good taste do. All those with very bad taste do not. A good test in choosing friends.
