It is a great thing that is happening in Europe and something that is scaring the crap out of the US. Especially as the Euro is growing stronger and is already stronger than the dollar - so much so that OPEC are considering switching the oil trade from dollars to Euros, which would spell the end of the US as an economic super power! For the guy who said that the cultural and language differneces are a barrier that is utter rubbish. English is the language of many European countires when it comes to politics and business on an international level. Indeed I moved from ireland to germany and could get by just fine with English even though I now speak german. just because the average White American is generally a one language entity most Europeans speak several languages. Indeed the school English in most European countries would put 99% of Americans and English/Irish to shame!

A United Europe will never work. Each and every European country/state has it's own separatist who want Independence. So it will never work just look at at the Euro-vision song contest it is so politically scored. Each European country should be independent. Laws and rules and ways of life are completely different. the French Government turned down a treaty after the 1st world war and the before the 2nd world war for an British French union the French declined and were then invaded by Germany. There are too many old bad blood ties that will stop Europe working together. The EU is just one big way of spending more money on politicians. Countries that have not joined the EU such as Switzerland seem to be doing fine. What makes you think it will work? the French and Dutch already decided that a constitutuion wouldn't work and for that reason one one else in europe voted on it? how can this be democratic?

its already here , and for it being our future u really need to do a little research . being part of a super state like this is not a good thing it is just a total centralisation of power , it is to take the sovereignty of our countrys .
as we see in america at the moment they have created the north american union (NAU) and nafta whichc is a free trade agreement with canada and mexico , this is based on a model of the EU it merges these countrys and all thy are doing is creating blocks (NAU , EU , Asian union , African union and so on) that will be joined together and will create world government , world currency which will eventually be just numbers and you will pay for everything biometrically .
the point is this is not a good thing very complicated , the people that run our so called civilised countrys at the very top are bought and payed for and there not working in the interests of us the people they work for big buissness and there future for the human race is not good (population reduction ) being onepart of it .

U.S.E.? Hopefully never as long as feet have toes. You only ever take and never give, you stabbed us in the back during the Falklands, weren't at all supportive during the Iraq war, even giving them SAMs to use against us, and interfere in our laws, saying we can't keep people in prison beyond a certain time -- even when we give them a trial when WE have to prove their guilt. You... well, YOU keep them in prison for seven years before they even come to trial, and THEY have to prove their INNOCENCE!
Added to all the above, the auditors refused to sign off the EU Budget for the seventh (or was it the eleventh?) year running. If you were a PLC you'd be shut down for investigation over financial irregularities. The Phillipines got rid of the Marcoses for less! Unfortunately, NO-ONE in the EU member states seems to regard financial sleights of hand involving certainly millions and possibly billions of Euros worth investigating. If we're forced into a U.S.E. I'll claim political asylum somewhere.
