It is typical for hypocritical democrats to accuse others of misdemeanors while committing felonies.

I got so caught up in thinking about william jefferson i didnt think to research your question.

HE IS NOT ON AN ETHICS COMMITTEE, in fact the house DOES NOT HAVE AN ETHICS COMMITTEE

there are committees such as:
Committee on House Administration
Committee on Rules
Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Committee on Standards of Official Conduct

he is on none of those.

He was a member of the ways and means committee but democrats voted to remove him.

It is all about corruption. I am a Conservative, but I can assure you both sides are just as guilty as the other. Our political system has turned into a major joke. There are very few politicians that you can say have great moral and ethical values. I am ashamed of the way our democracy has been handled the past 12 years. I bleed red, white and blue. I am retired from the military, but it is disgraceful the way our congress, senate, and white house has acted the past decade. How embarrassing! I can only pray it gets better.

He betrayed the public trust and abused his position... he should be hanged by his minuscule, shriveled testicles until they rot off, and he should be in the general population of a regular prison, not a health spa-type minimal security prison... he really deserves whatever he gets in the general population of one of those hard-core prisons like each and every other crooked, lying, corrupt politician! I don't think he's in jail; I think he copped a deal by snitching on others. I agree with the absurdity and disgraceful practice of the so-called "ethics" committee but the last time I checked his name was NOT there.

WHAT damned farce! In all of America, I wouldn't put much faith on ANY politician being honest... it's more a matter of who's the less evil and less corrupt! But, it's OUR fault for letting these jackals assume public office... they should be kicked out of politics and ALL prevented from doing business or working with any company that has anything to do with government contracts or the workings of a public utility or service. I've said it often enough!

I'm not sure... but this is what I heard... don't quote me on this, OK? But I heard that when he was going to be arrested he took out his teeth and said that he thought Tooth Fairy left that money for him! Hahahahaha.... catcha!

Congressman Jefferson just hired a new Chief of Staff.

I believe that the FBI should investigate him and his staff, since Jefferson obviously fired his former chief of staff for political reasons connected with Jefferson's acceptance of bribes.

And he's been charged and indicted for what, I must have missed it, why after all this time if they have evidence has he NOT been charged, is he more valuable to rethuglicans unindicted? Could it be there really is no case but as long as they can keep this out there they score points? If there's evidence charge him and let him have his day in court, by the way it's not the ethics committee it's Homeland Security

Maybe they feel like they're underperforming compared to Ney and DeLay.

But they'll probably never be able to match Foley. That was just classic, man. That man was a true trailblazer in ironically unforgivable scandals.

That's why politicians talking about ethics reform is a joke. Both parties are in love with power and money.

Perhaps it was his 'ice cream' money.....but then on a more serious note, wherever the money came from, the law is taking a lll---ooonnnnggg time coming up with charges.
I imagne they have found others of our politicians with money where it shouldn't be either.

Ya... He steals from his constituents, stashes 90 k in his freezer and his punishment is that Queen Pelosi basically promotes him...

Wow... I want some of that justice for myself. I could use 90 k and a new promotion. Hell... we would be in jail for that.

Can't say much more about it. No one can.
