It sounds like you are on to the conspiracy I have been researching for decades. If you will look at the published date on each book you will find that that in odd numbered years books are published in hardcover if the publishers name has less than 4 vowels in it. Over 4 vowels, it comes out simultaneously in hardcover and paperback. Now here is where it really gets interesting. Divide the number of consonants in the book title by the number of vowels in the publisher's name. The result will correspond to either the numerological value of "paper" or "hardcover" and will always correspond in fact to its numerological designation. If you then multiply this number by the number of pages in the book that precede the first chapter and then divide that number by the square root of the numerological value of the author's name, you will find that for paperback books published in the first five years of any given decade the answer is 666! When you compare this result to the factorings I have developed for important societal happenings.....

Uh...hardcover has a hard cover and a paper back has a paper cover. Generally, new books come out in a hard cover and then in second and subsequent printings see paperback and mass market printings.
