I know some people open accounts then forget about them. I was just wondering how you could see if they still used it or is it a forgotten active e-mail.

Send them an e-mail and ask them.

Some e-mail programs support return receipt, although not all do. And it's easy to turn off/refuse a return receipt.

The easiest way i've found is to get an account at the same site. If that info is available it will be more available to a site member.

The sneaky, way is to embed an image in an HTML mail and watch the server logs for access. Spam do this to verify your address. To do it, you need an FTP or HTTP server on your computer, an image file and this code in the mail: (no *s)

all bet's are off if the user doesn't read your email
