I went in yesterday for a 3D ultrasound of our little boy (by choice .. it was just something we did for the fun of it .. and to get a DVD of him and a confirmation he's a boy :)
and the sonogrammer said he weighs 1 lb. 7 oz. and is in the 46th percentile .. is that good? I've never been sure how the perscentile thing works!
*what is the average weight of a 24 and a half week baby (still in the womb)?

thanks! :)

I'm confused about the percentile because I have a nephew who is 6 months old and is the 98th percentile .. thats a big difference from the 46th percentile!

I don't understand why people were being rude to you, asking "are you serious?" I don't see anything wrong with your question! Honestly, I'm not sure what the baby should weigh, but you can go to www.baby-gaga.com and click on pregnancy ticker, and everyday, it tells you how your baby is growing and what he/she should wiegh! I went and got a 3D ultrasound they told me they couldnt tell the babies weight! :-/ I am 31 weeks! Good Luck!

First, I would like to say, "Congradulations on your new baby!" I'm not sure how much a 24.5 week baby would weigh in the womb, but when my mom gave birth to me 27 years ago I only weighed 1 lb. and 12 oz. I was born three months early, and the only thing wrong with me is that I am totally blind, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying life, infact, I am currently a fulltime college student. Who would have thought that I would be in college now when I wasn't expected to live, considering that I also had a whole in my heart, and lost about 6 ounces, and spent the first three months of my life in the hospital. I guess you could say that I'm a miracle baby. I don't think that the percentile thing matters as long as your baby is healthy.

TEN GROWTH MILESTONES AT TWENTY-ONE TO TWENTY-FIVE WEEKS
Check out the 10 growth milestones for baby:

By the end of this month baby weighs around 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 pounds.
Baby is around a foot long.
Increasing fat deposits beneath the skin cause her to take on a more plump, though still wrinkly, appearance.
Fingernails and eyelashes develop.
Scalp hair increases.
She now has a more recognizable baby face.
The vernix caseosa now covers the skin completely, like a layer of thin, whitish paste.
By 24th weeks, baby's nostrils open.
Her lungs begin to develop air sacs, called alveoli, though not enough of them to sustain breathing outside the womb.
Baby still needs the nourishment of her mother's womb! If she were born now her breathing would have to be assisted.
