Used nipple stimulation to induce labour. After 9 months and 3 days my wife went into labour. I just offered moral support.

With my second child, when labour was in the early stages and going very slowly, my midwife suggested I whip the bed curtains round and get my husband to participate in a little 'nipple stimulation'! Yeah I was shocked but figured anything was worth a try.....so we did. It involved rubbing n lightly rubbing your nipples for as long as you can withstand it. Cant say my labour sped up to much but there was a definite improvement in my contractions. Its all to do with the stimulating hormone I believe and if you have sensitive boobs, you'll feel something connecting down below. Bit hard to understand but there's definitely some truth in it. Give it a go, wheres the harm? And good luck x

Tried. Didn't work.
Here are some more things you could try though.
Raspberry leaf tea - drink 2-3 cups a day (considering you are over 35 weeks)
Pineapple
Long walks
Lots of sex (And let him ejaculate inside you and keep it inside for as long as possible cuz I know it sounds gross but semen softens your cervix making it more possible for labour to start.

When I did try nipple stimulation, I gave birth about three weeks later so I'm almost 100% certain that, that didn't cause me to go into labour. Good luck with the birth! xx

I have three kids and each arrived within hours of my hubby and I having an early night. The last one popped out 40 mins later, 5 days early but I had had alot of regular braxton hicks in the two weeks before so it was building up to it.

you have to be at it for ages before the hormone kicks in and it might not!!
you can lie in bath and stimulate them yourself, or get hubby to do it, but to me it felt a bit mechanical and i couldnt get into it.
as an aromatherapist i used a mix of strong oils not recommended during pregnancy as they can stimulate, but are ok once reached due date or after.

do not try to induce if not at due date yet!!!dangerous!!!

i used rosemary, clary sage, neroli, juniper, lavander - 20 drops of each in a plain carrier oil (vege or sunflower oil is great no need to but 'special ' carrier oil).. about 200mls of oil

massag ethis into your belly, back, thighs and breasts as many times a day as possible. it wont work immediately, as oils take a few hours to enter bloodstream etc, but with me and 2 of my friends we all wnet into labout within 3 days. get your hubby to do it sensually and then have fab sex too... it all helps!!
also, if late, walk up&down stairs as many times as poss and then some more.. like 20 up and 20 down each time as many times a day as you can..my hubbby helped me when i got bored!! you will ache a bit but this helps push baby's head onto cervix etc and can help trigger contratctions.. once you are in labour, keep active and upright to help gravity!!!
or go for a rugged walk in woods where you need to claber about...not dignified but helps!!
dont lie on your back at all as the cocyx bone at base of spine cannot move back enough to allow babys head out which is why many mums have longer labours than necessary!!
good luck and have fun!!

No! But i've had heard u can go to a massage therapist to induce ur labor . It has to do with the pressure they massage ur feet with. That sounds more relaxing ! Lie to your husband and tell him if he massages ur feet u will go in labor faster! LOL!GOOD LUCK!!

If your body and your baby is not ready to go into labor nipple stim will have no effect.

Sorry to tell you it did nothing for me. I have tried about everything and have decided that she isn't going to come until she is ready. Good luck!

All it does for me is bring on Braxton Hicks... they don't get strong enough for labor to start.
