Hi there,
For me, the best thing is to meditate or go for a long walk. Both help get my mind of things and put me in a great mood afterwards. I too agree, medications are not always the best route to take as they only mask the symptoms rather than deal with them. If you are considering medications you might want to check out Passion Flower. It is an herbal extract used for stress reduction and anxiety.
As someone else mentioned, stress can not be "cured" but it can be controlled. Part of controlling stress is to recognize warning signs and trigger points; meditation can help in figuring those things out as well as talking to professional counsellors regarding stress and stress management. There is no shame in seeking whatever kind of professional help is required and just because you talk to a counsellor does not mean you are nuts; it means you care about yourself.
Cheers.

What worked for me to relieve STRESS. Because, I have also high blood pressure which was dangerously high. (200/117) and I have 9 kids. So, my emotions went up and down. Sometimes way down. I started going to the gym 2 to 3 times a week. Doing about 15 to 30 mins of cardio, some stretching, and then just sitting in the steam room to just clear my mind and thoughts. I lost 30 pounds and my blood pressure dropped.

Hello,
These are the things that have helped me not only relieve emotional stress but heal as well.
1. Know that you are not alone.
2. As hard as it is to reach out, Do it! There are lots of people who get together for meditation, support, etc. Often the action of getting out there and doing something where I may have the chance to help someone else diffuses my own stress.
3. Reiki. It is a gentle healing technique that has helped me to let go, heal and progress
4. A good counselor if needed can really help. I found it wonderful to be able to bring my thoughts and feelings to someone who is impartial in the situation and can help me sort out everything.
There are so many tools out there for each of us to use to be the happy healthy people we want to be!
Good Luck!

There is no cure for stress, but some things can help......
Holiday,
Massage,
Hot bath
Good food
Plenty of money
(in no particular order, these things and alot of others can make you feel freer, so less stressful)
then you would have less stress I'm sure.

Do things you're really enjoying yourself and where you can get some peace of mind and forget about what's troubling you. Maybe meet up with some friends or do some exercise.

If you sit in a quiet (preferably darkened) room, back straight and perfectly upright. Then breathe in through your nose and slowly out through your mouth. I believe it is a yoga excercise - and I had doubts but it really worked for me.
