JAYHAWKS all the way! The SIU game went pretty much as I expected it would. However I watched with great enthusiasm the UCLA game and I think we got it in the bag!
UCLA is good, I will give credit where credit is due. However, I think we have the right guns to shoot it at the Bruins and take home another win.

Are people forgetting KU not only played one of the best defensive teams in SIU, but is also one of the best defensive teams in the NCAA themselves?
UCLA is not going to be able to handle KU's lightining fast guards (or big men for that matter) on the defensive or offensive end of the floor. KU's bench is way too deep and talented for UCLA to keep up.

Nickster.... You can use those little two points as an excuse all you want. The refs also took two from KU when they called Arthur for a nonexistent travel (obviously did not travel). The refs let SIU travel all over the place, didnt call 3 seconds in the lane on them and didnt call the 5 second penalty for not moving the ball while being defended. If the refs would have called the game fairly, most of SIUs starting players would have been fouled out and KU would have won by 30 instead of 3.

Hey jhawkfan,

i think the upcoming game will be one of the best in the tourney.

UCLA has looked vulnerable all year (true) but they are also 10-1 vs AP top 25 teams-- it means when they play high level competition they are focused.

Kansas was lucky to win yesterday (esp. when you consider that bucket they got after the 35 second clock expired- it really could have changed the end of the game) with SIU with the ball down 1 instead of 3.

i think it's a complete Toss-up. It'll be a close game and probably one of the best of the tourney. UCLA can win in a grind out slow game. Kansas can win if they push the ball up and score in transition.

i'm alumn- so i gotta say... Go Bruins! i think the Bruins have the edge Howland vs Self and Howland will come up with some brilliant scheme to shut down Collins and Chalmers.

And I underestimated UCLA ... thought they'd bow out to Pitt.

UCLA is 4-0 vs. KU in the NCAA's. Luckily, none of those under Self.

So it's time to re-Wright(Julian) history.

KU is longer than any team UCLA has played this year, so Afflalo and Collison will not get as many open looks. And the depth inside is also in KU's favor.

I think KU in a tight battle until the final 6 minutes, when UCLA runs out of gas.

Rock Chalk!

Edited for 50/50. See the link below for info on the Rock Chalk chant. FYI, you'll hear it with about 1:30 left during the UCLA game.

The only reason Kansas was able to win was because they gave it everything they had. I'll admit they tightened up because it would have been so embarrassing to lose to SIU, but their actual effort never flagged from what I saw.

I have Kansas in my bracket, but UCLA will bring the same defensive intensity that gave Kansas so much trouble yesterday, only with better athletes. Maybe they learned better how to deal with that pressure, or maybe two days is not enough time. Kansas is more talented so I'm sticking with my initial pick, but last night's game does not leave me feeling certain.

Its a pretty close call,as both tems very disciplined and
strong in all areas. If it comes down to late game depth and free throws, ucla should squeek out.I think Memphis will win this tourney.Georgetown and Florida looks good as well.

Kansas Baby! People kept saying that Kansas lost in the 1st round the past two years in the tournament and theyve went farther that that. I know Kansas has lost before to U.C.L.A. in the past but that was then and this is now!

I think UCLA can shut down Kansas and score more points than SIU did so they'll win.

I picked ULCA in my bracket because I thought Kansas was overrated... not anymore. I'm second guessing this pick BIG time. Kansas is playing very well and UCLA looks vunerable.
