if you are wealthy and are not affiliated with hardvard law do you still have a chance ie if you give them a building and money 10 million plus

You give them 10 million and you can be the dumbest person on the planet and you will graduate with honors, never have to go to class, just enjoy the parties..

Sure. They take money from anyone. Doesn't mean you can get in (altho it certainly helps, the more you donate). Money helps, but for schools like Harvard, the connections help a LOT more than money from a stranger does. If they took anyone in with money, they lose respect. The wealthier the school, the less they'll take someone in b/c of money since they don't need the money.

For a school like Harvard, it's best to be at least competitive and then donate. That way, if they're wavering, they can consider as a "factor" the fact that your family is a generous donor. Harvard's endowment has billions. If you're crap, throwing money at Harvard isn't going to help enough because they're too rich to be influenced just by money.

At a crappier private school who desparately needs money, that's different. But they would have lower admissions requirements anyways.
