It takes lots of practice. You're gonna have to be dedicated to practicing all of the fundamentals of the game. Practice your jump shot, your freethrow shooting, your rebounding, your defense, your dribbling, and your passing. You can practice your jump shots and free throw shots alone. The other parts require you to play some basketball and keep up with the hard work and determination. Peace!!!!!!!!!!!

in order for u to become a great basketball play is first of all in order to play u must have good grades, second is to practice practice practice.(of course practice doesn't make perfect but close to it) second u should really join track cuz it helps you out a whole lot. you have to put ur heart n soul into the sport u can't just start and then quit in the middle you have to finish it out. if u love the sport enough by the time the season is over u will kno that u have to put in a 110% into it.

Figure out what you are good at and what you are bad at. If you can catch and shoot the ball, concentrate on moving off the ball and getting yourself open. If you aren't a shooter, concentrate on the other aspects of your game, ie passing, defense, etc. Conditioning is a key factor as well, build up your upperbody, and start running every day. Also, try to increase your Basketball IQ, study the game, watch film/gametapes, study your opponents, study the greats to play. If you want to work on shooting, watch videos of Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Rick Barry. Passing....Stockton or Nash..etc. And lets not forget about plain old raw talent...if you don't have it, you're gonna have to work 5 times as hard.
good luck!

Be a great team player too.
If you want a career in the WNBA thought, a lot of stuff outside of your control will have to happen too. First, you have to be on a high school team that's good enought to get college scouts to look at you. Then you have to stand out to the scouts. Hopefully a Division I program like University of Tennesse or Baylor University will want you to play for them. Then you have to do well on the collge level if you want to play in the pros. You'll probably have to win championships and be selected All-American.

Practice and study the game. Knowledge of the game can go a long way in masking skills one may not possess.
