History has shown us that nothing ever changes and that mankind NEVER learns from his mistakes.
One may romanticize as much as they want but I think that while they may have had different toys in the Napoleanic Era, the questions and answers would have been much the same...with one marked difference - there wouldn't have been any Democrats or Republicans! Fantastique!

Napoleon did bring short term stability to Europe while trampling democracy's underpinnings. I can see the similarities.

We'd have had some wonderful discussions of turning maneuvers as well as the cavalry tactics of Alexander and Frederick II.
