our cats have caught and killed a blue jay and a downy woodpecker and I want to keep them forever. How do you do taxidermy on them

A friend of mine took an independent study at our university in taxidermy, the professor froze the bird, then made tiny incisions to remove the hide and it peeled off the frozen insides, the hide can be dried in silacagel (found at arts and craft stores for drying flowers) stuff the body with wool or polyester batting to shape it (large specimens are stretched over a fiberglass form). Mount the bird on a base and glue fake glass eyes in place.

I took a course in taxidermy so when my Chihuahua Pikcet died, I stuffe him nice and clean and he's sitting on the fire place.

If you are serious, you should either take it to a taxidermist, or take a class if there is one available near you.
Now for the other problem, where are you going to put the finished product so your can't won't attack it again?
