Zone 5.... Hmmmmmmmmmm

Man, finally someone who asks a question and actually gives out where they are at. YAY!!!!!

Ok, a quick ground cover.... You can go to Home Depot (HD) or Lowes and pick up a shaker can of Dichondra, it takes a couple weeks to get them to sprout up enough to where you'll be happy. But they look awesome, and its a fairly easy and cheap fix. Aside from that, while you are at Lowes or HD, look at their flats of plants or groundcover. If you decide to go the plant route, get ones that have yet to bloom, as they will within a week of you planting them. Yet another option......If you decide to not do Dichondra, go with Western Red Cedar mulch, it smells great, keeps bugs out, and looks awesome. Basically you spread it out around on the ground about 2" thick. Afterwards, I like to water mine down so its more manageable, and the smell is just awesome. Oh yeah, as for price, Cedar mulch is about $4 a bag, dichondra is about $8 for a shaker can, and flats of groundcover or plants range from $5 to $15 depending on what you want.

Plant lily of the valley, snow in summer, pink sundrops for groundcover. You can also plant perennial geranium, and reblooming daylily.

Sweet woodruff. Its really fast growing, and you can divide and plant it almost anywhere.

Tiny white flowers in spring, and smells sweet. Later on nice green matt. Bulbs easily poke through this.
