My glucose screen came back a little high and my blood count is low. She is requesting a 3 hour glucose test and iron supplements.

Is this common? Could something be wrong or is this some what standard? Any advise? Info? Thanks!

Yes, it is common and just because you have to have the 3 hour test does not mean that you have diabetes. I had this test with 2 of my pregnancies and I did not get gestational diabetes. Low iron is very common. I had this with all 4 pregnancies. A suppliment will help. Good Luck.

I have had the 3 hour test 3 times. Only this time did it come back high and was I diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The low iron is very common in pregnancy. Iron supplements are normal during pregnancy. Just do what your doctor says and you will be fine. Good luck

It's standard to do the 3 hour test when the 1 hour test is high. The docs just want to make sure you don't have gestational diabetes because it can be harmful to you as well as the baby. My advice would be to take a book or something with you to keep you entertained because it's a long test and you could get bored. Good Luck!!

i was in your shoes a few months ago. i did the 3 hour glucose test and it turned out i was ok. i been on iron supplements for about 4 months now because of the low blood count. i asked my doc why, he told me that because of it being low that i might become amniotic and while i was delivering i could bleed more than i should and could die or need a blood transfusion. he said that this is as common in pregnant women as morning sickness and for me to take the pills everyday so myself and the baby would be OK. i can't believe your doc didn't say why to you. but trust me it is very normal and everything will be OK. if you need to talk more about it please e-mail me and i will tell you everything i learned about it and what i went though.
