It is a proven fact that General Knight has won 2,354 games in his storied coaching career, all the while tending to his loyal and loving wife Karen and his eight children: Gretchen, Skipper, Chaz, Buckles, Ginger, Judy, Constantine, and Pat. Dean Smith, unmarried and childless to my knowledge, only won 879 games.

His current record, as measured by the NCAA, stands at 832 - 322. He stands at the pinnacle of the NCAA's "Winningest Active Division 1 Men's Basketball Coaches By Victories" and is third among the "Winningest Division 1 Men's Basketball Coaches of All-Time." His friend, Dean Smith, leads all coaches with an 879 career win mark. Adolph Rupp follows Smith with 876 wins. Tech's 79-69 win over Colorado in the 2004 Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament moved him ahead of Jim Phelan's 830-career mark.

You have some of your facts wrong.

On January 1, 2007, at Texas Tech, Knight achieved his 880th career win, passing retired North Carolina coach Dean Smith for the most career NCAA Division I men's college basketball victories. 2,534 games! (maybe in NCAA March Madness 07 for Xbox 360)

Here is the "the General's" Bio from the Texas Tech website:

Knight is the father of two sons. Tim, a 1986 graduate of Stanford University, serves Texas Tech as an Assistant Athletic Director/Special Projects. Pat, who played for him at IU from 1991-95, is the Associate Head Coach at Texas Tech. Bob Knight and his wife, Karen, were married in 1988.

As for us UNC fans we tend to think of Dean Smith as the elite coach because of his demeanor. I never saw Coach Smith throw a chair or get thrown out of games, yet he still won 879 games. You could think of him as mentor, Coach Knight reminds you of the crazy old guy down the street that yells at his cats.

I really don't care that he has surpassed Dean Smith. Dean had the record for a while and now Bob has it. Every record is meant to be broken. He has not won 2,354 games. I don't know where the hell you got that number from. Besides I believe it took Bob Knight more games to catch up to Dean than it did Dean to catch up with Rupp.

Dude, you have NO idea what your talking about. I'm a UNC fan and I think Knight is a great coach. I really don't care how many games either has won. They both are two of the most respected coaches in all of basketball because they earned it and it should be left at that. And by-the-way, Smith is married and has children.

They renounce it because Dean Smith is/was more media savy and lovable. Bob Knight is not an easy sell to anyone. I think he is great, but im a biased Buckeye who always has an Alumns back.

on an identical time as i don't have a baby i'm going to take a stab at this. i'm a Christian, one in each of Jehovah's Witnesses, and an avid Chess participant. If I performed chess with, working example, my neice, and he or she slaughtered me, by way of her clean means/mastery of the interest, i could be so thrilled i ought to bust. If whether, she the amateur, performed a Horrid interest, and nevertheless slaughtered me, i could be relatively embaressed as "for sure" I wasn't taking part in to boot as I might desire to have. As for this question "do you prefer your toddlers to humble themselves to you (worship you) or do you in basic terms prefer them to income from you, and then make their own judgements?" i'm reminded of my mom coaching my older brothers to force. She made it clean that on an identical time as being knowledgeable they necessary to heed her tips, IE, persist along with her lead. Being toddlers it did not take long for the "i comprehend extra effective than you physique of recommendations" to take over. quite on an identical time as working a vehicle this recommendations-set must be disasterous. plenty the comparable, on an identical time as that is wish of ALL parents, or might desire to be, for their toddlers/scholars to advance and advance, humility is usually a Key ingredient in being taught. My nephew while 5? replaced into interior the habit of telling his Grandfather, "I already comprehend that" approximately maximum each little thing, to the ingredient that the boy replaced right into a brat. He felt quite loose to conquer on others, quite women human beings, inclusive of my mom. His parents have many times taught him he's extra effective than each physique else, different than them. on an identical time as i'm happy he has a stable self image, i think it would be extra effective to instruct him, that each physique, inclusive of him/quite him at 6 years of age, has plenty to income.
