Till today my system had Windows 2000 Professional. And I was the administrator and had access to all the drives of the disk. But I had not given access to E drive to another user Monica.

Today I installed Windows XP and registred myself as Sat as Computer Administrator, and another user Monica with limited access. NOW
1) we both can not access that E drive at all. Even when I login as Sat (Computer Administrator) and try to access the E drive, I get a message as 'drive not accessible'.

2) Moreover, when I try to add another user with username 'administrator', I get a mesage as 'username administrator already exists', infact there is no user with that username.

Please help me access E drive.

1. go to windows explorer
2. on the menu, choose tools >> goto View tab >> make sure that SIMPLE FILE SHARING is unchecked click apply and ok
3. right click on drive E:\ choose properties (don't click, just directly use right click to select drive E:\ then select Properties)
4. Goto SECURITY >> click on ADVANCE button >> choose OWNER tab >> choose ADMINISTRATORS >> then make sure that "Replace owners on subcontainers...." is checked >> click apply and ok >> then OK again to close PROPERTIES window.
5. Right click drive E: again then properties >> on the GROUP OR USER NAMES list make sure that SYSTEM is included, if not CLICK ADD then click ADVANCE >> click FIND NOW, choose SYSTEM on the list then click ok.
6. Set the PERMISSION OF SYSTEM to FULL CONTROL that should do the trick :)

Right click on "My Computer", click Manage, Then in the Manage Window, Click Disk Manangment ment. Try to delete the E:/ space all together. If go to run and type in E:/, and the window stills gives you an error, then redo the process one more time; same results, you may have it filled with a hardware all ready. Check with Monica, safe there might have been some safe mode configuration during her user process.
