I'm sure the families are already really happy even if they are not living in mansions. Even though it is a nice gesture for the billionaire, but wouldn't it be better if he sell off the mansions and take the proceeds to build decent homes and give it to more families in need. That way he can help more people.

Imagine if every billionaire did that. We know that there are not that many of them but there are a lot of homeless people. If we could divide the number of homeless by the number of billionaires who would take in eight of these poor souls: Let me see... NH, ( representing the number of the world's homeless) minus( NB, { the number of billionaires in the world,} multiply by 8, { the homeless that the billionaire would provide shelter for.}) = something better.

Whatever the motivations, the billionaires of the earth can be said to have provided one of the necessary things that everybody should be entitled to : shelter.

With the decline in housing prices he probably figured they would be worth nothing anyway so why not let some homeless trash them. I bet at least one burns to the ground before the end of this year since they won't be able to pay the heating bill and will start a fire in the middle of the living room!

Thats it he wants the insurance money!

It is a nice gesture but I have more admiration for poor people that give to helps others. I'll bet he takes a tax deduction for the act. I am cynical.

It sounds fishy. From what I read he's not the fairest landlord, but then again he might have had one of those "Scrooge" moments where he realized he needed to do more for other people than for him self.

He could be doing it because he is a nice guy or he might just want attention but we can't say for sure

Sounds like a nice thing to do.

It would be a write-off too.

I think it's awesome and I will do the same when I make it to my first million!
