If it isn't a kitten, perhaps it is a squirrel?
It can be a bad deal to pick up wild animals.
First, it is probably illegal. It's mother was probably nearby and may have retrieved it if you had left it alone.
Second, many animals carry diseases like rabies and cannot be vaccinated against them.
Third, and most important, if it is a wild animal, it won't ever be "Tame", and you will have a wild animal that will not have learned to live in the wild. It will probably die when you need to turn it loose.
But I did the same thing as a kid. And most of them died. That is why I say that it isn't a good thing to do. Why don't you look up a wildlife rescue organization in your phone book. Ask them what this could be and how to care for it. They may be able to help you do it right so the animal is able to grow up well and be able to live in the wild again. This will also help you end up feeling good instead of sad if things don't go well.

If you are feeding him regular cows milk, please stop. Cats cannot properly digest it and it is not enough nutritionally for them. You can get a kitten milk replacer at any local pet store.
