Any external CD/DVD RW is suited for your laptop.

There are many external CD/DVD writers out there and a few internal ones too.

for an estimate i'd say externals are around $100+
internals are probably around $50-70

Externals tend to be bulky for $100; but are very flexiable, they can work on any machine with USB 2.0.

Internals are sure cheaper but also you would need to install these yourself ( replace old CD-ROM drive). These are usually replaceable without hassle if you have windows XP or higher ( no need for drivers ).

A good place to start: newegg.com
- this site sells items at reasonable prices and contains nice reviews from actually people most of their products.
- search: external burner or slim dvd burner ( for internals )

installing internals is ideal to get rid of bulkyness ( BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SIZE / FITTING )

Hi, i have a Phillips cd/dvd re-writer, which is a good make, i have never had any problems with it.
Your best bet is to go to somewhere like PC World as they have different copying speeds.

You could wait for the Toshiba Blu Ray/ HD DVD RW drives to come down from their lofty price or you could get a regular DVD RW drive from Sony, Toshiba or Plextor. All three brands have good performance reputations, especially Plextor. Check the links below to find a good deal on them.

if money is no object wait just a little while for the HD/Blueray burners to come out and put them in an external enclosure to use
