ONE HEAVY QUESTION
Consider -
"In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people
in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting
under instructions from Vice President **** Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing—that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack—but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections."
- Philip Giraldi, a former CIA Officer 2005
PREEMPTIVE NUCLEAR ATTACK !!!
With “Shock and Awe”, Preemptive War is now a fact under the Bush Doctrine! The next step is academic.
It only requires a trigger as simple as a “Terrorist” attack.
Feathery’s and Steve C’s remarks are most disturbing -
Russia and China MUST feel threatened!! Russia has in the past 2 weeks pulled it’s personnel and support out of Iran while criticising it in the strongest possible terms.

Preemptive War puts the world on a dangerous path with nuclear arms. There are now many nuclear players in the Persian Gulf. The stakes are getting higher. WW3 (???)
With Iran’s crazy President Mahmood Ahmadinejad who seems bent on Armageddon, the taking of 15 Brit navy personnel doesn't help. Now there’s a real trigger!

First of all, I think the odds of attacking Iran are very slim, to begin with. Our Idiot King used all of his political capital and credibility with Iraq/WMDs.
Now, IF, by some chance, a war were to break out between the US and Iran, you must consider that we now would be engaged in three theatres: Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. This might very well pull Russia into the conflict, given its relationship with Iran, who might then incite further bloodshed from Hezbollah, against Israel, and... Sooner or later, someone is going to let the nukes fly. It isn't a matter of if, but when. The jin was released in the 1940s with the Manhattan Project.

Actually Iran is doing wonders for arms sales.
All the countries around Iran are terrified of it and arming themselves to the teeth. Especially buying from America!
Whilst there is a chance of any strike on Iran escalating, most of it's neighbours would secretly be relieved!!!

So your question is who needs conflict? IRAN! think of roughly it. If Obama needed yet another conflict the strike might have already exceeded off. the U. S. does not prefer Israel to hit Iran the U. S. ought to run strikes from our distributors interior the Persian Gulf & from air bases interior the U. S. itself.

Very likely.
The US doesn't have the manpower to attack Iran on the ground. So, any military strike is either going to be airpower, which will quickly spread to include attacks on neighboring countries, or require massive troop influxes from other countries. See above.

there is a good chance.
iran has allies who will defend them and other countries will come to the aid of both sides. those who try to be peaceful or netural will be sucked into it eventually.
I think there's a chance even countries we get along with will disagree and not trade with us. maybe even attack us later on.

Well lets see, president Ahmadinejad actually believes it's his calling from God to bring about Armageddon...
- I don't know if he'll succeed, but if you let me answer the chances of him TRYING to bring about WW3, I can give you a 100% for that.
