What does Montag mean when he says, "It's been a long time since anyone cared enough to ask." Im confused about this. and another thing, what does he mean about not " not crying at death". grr can you guys plz help me.

You're talking about Farhenheit 451, right? Okay, I can't find my copy, so I don't remember if the first quote is refering to Clarisse or Faber, but it's a moot point anyway. Montag is merely stating that in the society in which he lives is self-centered, and each man only cares about himself. As for not crying at death: that was at Mildred's death, wasn't it? He didn't cry because he didn't love her, that's all.

Honestly, I hate that book . But I had to read it for school. Montag doesn't love his wife Mildred anymore so he would not cry if she died. Montag also thinks that no one cares about anything but TV, radio, etc. He is frustrated at his world and wants people to read books and keep informed.
