Normally, I would say two, but since it's obvious the Packers are too stupid to try and make a move to accomidate his Super Bowl intentions now, he'll probably end up retiring at the end of this season.

They've already passed up on four chances to get a quality WR to go along with Donald Driver and they traded away their best RB. They cannot address all of their needs in the draft this year, so they HAVE to make a FA signing or a trade.

If they make the Playoffs, Favre will certainly come back one more season, so 2 years left counting this one, and finish out his contract.

If they don't make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl, Favre will retire one year before his contract ends.

Also, Favre ISN'T washed up and is, statistically, better than over half of the starting QB's in the NFL. While he isn't the Brett of old, he's still a capable starting QB and, more importantly, a fiery proven winner.

1-2 yrs
People really need to stop bashing Brett. He is still a better
QB than most and is a prime example of how football should be played. The stats don't lie, Marino's records will fall. I do acknowledge a few interceptions but how much of that is #4's fault? There has been a lot of hurried passes and tipped balls that went against the Pack that can't entirely be pinned on Favre. The QB is as good as his line sometimes. You have a guy here who has played with class and dignity. I just don't get why folks feel the need to take shots at him. Favre has always admitted his mistakes and is the highest form of leading by example. Go find a tougher athlete................In my book there will be few athletic legends, names like Payton,
Ali, Jordan, Gretzky, and right up there with them is Favre...

I love, love, love Brett Favre. I always get angry when people say he is washed up. But, I do think Brett is feeling very discouraged about the team. I think that he would rather retire than go to another team, and I would rather see him do that too. An older Brett Favre is still better than most quarterbacks in the NFL. I hope he stays at least one more.

Honestly he is 37... Vinnie Testaverde last started for the Dallas Cowboys when he was 41.. and then a won a few games for the Jets the next year and even threw a td for the Pats at 43. Favre is a much better QB than Testaverde ever was so as long as he wants to play he should have at least 4 more years. As long as he has talent around him (which is a problem now) he could stick around for a while.

Actual playing?? I'd say this year and then one more.. But his ghost will remain for another 25 or so years just as Elway's, Marino's, Montana's, and Johnny U's ghost have haunted the teams they have played for and against. A legend never dies.. Hats off to Brett Farve!

Sure do wish he'd finish his years in Chicago, but I'm sure unfortunately I'll never see that.. He would fit in that system well. Only a dream of mine!!!

frisco... I agree with you and to defend the interceptions.. When a team is behind (as the packers have been) they are likely to throw many more interceptions in the attempt to come back..You will throw the ball rather than taking a sack or you force the ball in places you would normally throw it away. It's called trying to win.

Added.. How many qb's are working behind a rookie offensive line? Is he getting old or is the Packers just too young yet?

I reallly dont like the guy! But he can still get it done. GB needs another solid target for him to throw to, and the Packers seem to be improving! They might as well pick up Moss, and let the 2 of them retire together in a couple years, Favre would keep Moss's ego in check!

I think he has one more year left in him as far as skill. The years are wearing on him, and if he stayed longer than one more season I think he could take the beating but his skill as a quarterback will have declined so much that'll end up hurting the Packers more than helping them.

First of all no on the field problem could ever "force" him to retire. EVER. The guy is all heart and I say one more year after this coming one. Besides once the three rookies on the o-line step up, he could lead them to the playoffs.

Aaron Rogers is going to retire before he does. Favre is going to be rolling in his wheelchair before he retires.

2 years tops if they dont make the playoffs this year I think he will hang it up at the end of the season. If they make the playoffs, I think he will come back for one more season if they cant win the superbowl so he can go out on top.
