I'm doing some research, and I was curious about the habitats of bobcats, lynx as well as cougars - do these cats live in western North Carolina?
While we're at it, are Salmon found there? What's a popular catch? Trout?
Thank you everyone for any help - much appreciated :)

You're on the money with most of the species you've named. there are certainly trout, in fact many waters in the Western part of the state are designated as protected trout fishing waters. Salmon also exist, but this tends to be more of a West coast fish. As far as the cats you mentioned, there are certianly cougars, possibly bobcats but lynx I highly doubt. Hope that helps.

Trout would be the fish here, not Salmon.

As far as cats go, there's probably a good few bobcats. But Cougars (or lynx, or "mountain lions"...same thing) are native to the area but are so endangered most wildlife experts do not think there are hardly any left in the state.

Another NC wildlife to think about are wolves....the eastern part of the state is home to the Highly Endangered Red Wolf (not to be mistaken for the more abundant grey wolf).

There is a really nice website that allows you to enter your zip code and it will give you a "virtual" field guide to find out what animals inhabit your area. Go to: http://enature.com
