What sort of goals does your employer make you do?
How long are those goal periods?
How much extra time are you supposed to spend on completing your goals?
What is the successful completion rate of goals overall at your employer or department?
Do you feel these goals benefit you? Or do you feel they are a waste of time?

I'm not asking the definition of a goal or the generic purpose of a company having goals--I have that knowledge. I'm trying to get a better understanding of how it is like to have goals at other companies, so I can compare it to my employer and their goal process and expectations.

Most employers have goals. The goals are derived from a stratgic plan, from which an operating plan is developed. Based on the actions needed to achieve the operating plan ( and thus the longer-term strategic plan), top-level goals are developed. These are usually things like "increase revenue by x%; improve quality yields by x%; expand into x country's target markets; design and introduce x new products; etc."

Those goals trickle down through department and functions so that each person's individual goals support the top-line goals of the corporation. for example, and engineer's goal might be to "complete project x on time, and within budget." This support the top-line goal of introducing x number of new products for the year.

Goals must be measured to determine success. The typical way to do this is on the employee's periodic performance appraisal. Goals can be set up as quarterly projects, or longer-term events, but typicaly don't extend pat one year since that is the period covered by the compan operating plan.

If done properly, individual goals can be an effective method of achieving the strategic and operating goals for a corporation. if they are done haphazardly or not measured, they are meaningless.

yeah

she makes me write lists of all chores to do

I comply so I can get some sex, thats how she gets me to make them lists of goals.

Then I get some and am happy for awhile.

Then in a few weeks she offers sex in exchange for another list.

The cleaning people do the chores though.
