I work for Ohio State Parks. I knew the day of the interview that the job was mine. However, it often takes 6 months for us to notify a ranger candidate. Follow up a couple of weeks after the interview if you haven't heard anything. It never hurts for an employer to hear that youare still interested.

It varies from situation to situation, but often, employers decide on the spot when they find the right fit. If it's an important position with a large co., the decision can stretch out for weeks. But usually, employers will decide within a week. Judging from your grammatical and spelling errors, I'm guessing that you should hear by close of business today. To help your chances in the future, make sure you show your continued interest in the positions you are applying for. This can be done by sending a thank you note to the person who interviewed you or by calling the interviewer shortly afterward. If you choose to drop a thank you card in the mail, it wouldn't hurt to include some of your key qualifications.

Can be anywhere from immediately to a few months. It all depends on the job.

I've applied for jobs and not heard for months. Really. And then, I'll get a call asking if I'm still available because they want to give me an offer.

Which is why you should never wait to hear about a job. If you're looking for a job, go to as many interviews as you can. Then, if you get an offer that you like, take it.

If you get an offer, but want to see if a preferred employer wants to hire you, it's OK to call and politely let them know that you want to work there, but you have another offer. Ask if they're planning on making a decision soon.

I would say between 1 week to 14 days approximately but it usually depends on how much internal processing has to take place before the successful candidate is hired. For example in my company you are not officially told that you got the job until the finance committee has approved the funds for the particular post and next the HR department has to prepare the all paper work for signatures. It is only after all this is completed that you are contacted. Please also note that in some executive positions the process takes even longer.
