my husband has bleeding caused by prostate problems. he has been told by hospital that his prostate is enlarged and he needs a cystoscopy. But he also has what seems to be a large tumor on his upper thigh (painless) and last year he had skin cancer removed on his face, now has a lump above his eyebrow. What would be the best type of doctor to see for all of these problems as we do not have health insurance? Thank You
Angela

The days of one doctor for all problems are gone.

Your husband needs a urologist and dermatologist. He may also need a plastic surgeon after removal of the cancer.

Why don't you have health insurance? It is widely available.

Wow your poor guy.

You probably know that a urologist usually takes care of the prostate problem, and a dermatologist usually takes care of the skin cancer. And Internal Medicine doctor might be willing to help with monitoring any more pre-cancers and monitor the prostate and even the painless tumor. But if any of these need more treatment he will probably send you back to the specialist.

Good Luck.

I think a Oncologist to see if Cancer is evident and the a Urologist for the Prostate problems... If you have no insurance go to the nearest Medical School/University and check out the two departments I mentioned above... Whatever his need they will have it available at a reasonable cost bases on Income ... Even if it means driving to the next county or state for the service. These school usually have the latest in medical advances.

These are all potentially serious problems. No one doctor treats them all. The prostate does not generally cause bleeding problems. It causes urine retention and frequency. Bleeding from the rectum should be seen by a gastroenterologist. Bleeding in the urine can be seen by a urologist. The lump on the thigh and above the eyebrow can be seen by a dermatologist. You could see a general practitioner, but he will end up sending you to these specialists anyway.
